Why our containers-program and Not others

Subtitle: Why Buying a Shipping Container Direct Beats Going Through a Broker Markup

Most people shopping for a shipping container hit the same wall: they find a listing, request a quote, and get a price that’s noticeably higher than what the container actually costs at the port. That gap is the broker markup — and it’s built into how most of the industry sells containers.

Where the markup comes from

A shipping container typically changes hands two or three times before it reaches a retail buyer: shipping line → depot/broker → reseller → you. Each step adds margin. By the time a container reaches a typical retail listing, the price can run well above the container’s actual port value — even before delivery is added.

What direct pricing looks like instead

At inspect-home.com, containers are priced at the same broker rate we use for our monthly bulk-buy program — not a marked-up retail price. For our launch, we’re extending that pricing to the first 1,000 containers sold, first come, first served. Once that pricing window closes, listings return to standard retail rates.

What you’re actually paying for

Container price — the base cost of the unit itself, by type and new condition containers

Pickup — containers are located at the Port of Baltimore for self pickup

Delivery (optional) — if you’d rather not arrange your own transport, we offer delivery to your site for a separate fee

Keeping these as separate line items means you’re never paying for a service you didn’t ask for.

Which container type fits your project

Whether you’re looking for a standard 20ft or 40ft dry container for storage, an open-side unit for easier access, or a 40ft high cube shell to build out as a tiny home, container specs vary more than people expect — dimensions, door configuration, and structural condition all matter for what you’re planning to do with it.
